DC Battery Connector Cables – SB50, SB175 & Power Accessories
A worn DC battery connector cable, a corroded contact, or a mismatched housing can cut charging efficiency, damage components, and shut equipment down mid-shift. The connection between battery and charger carries the full current load of the system – 50 amps or more on a 24V walk-behind, up to 175 amps on a 48V ride-on – so the cable, connector, and gauge you choose directly affect performance, safety, and uptime.
NexSys® Store stocks a complete selection of SB50 connectors, SB175 connectors, DC battery connector cables, and related charging accessories. Every product is selected for compatibility with EnerSys NexSys® TPPL battery systems and the most widely used industrial floor scrubbers, sweepers, and cleaning equipment.
SB50 vs. SB175: Which DC Battery Connector Cable Do You Need?
The SB50 and SB175 are the two dominant Anderson Power Products–style connectors in industrial cleaning equipment. Both use a genderless, color-coded, single-piece housing that mates securely and disconnects cleanly. The difference comes down to amperage capacity, physical size, and the voltage class each serves.
SB50 Connector
The SB50 connector is rated for 50 amps of continuous current and is standard on most 24-volt walk-behind floor scrubbers and compact platform machines. If your equipment runs on a 24V NexSys® TPPL battery with a compact onboard or external charger, an SB50 cable is what you need.
- Amperage rating: 50A continuous
- Voltage class: 24V systems
- Common color: Red (24V standard) or Blue (see color-coding section below)
- Wire gauge: 6 AWG
- Available lengths: 48-inch, 72-inch, and custom cuts
SB175 Connector
The SB175 connector handles up to 175 amps and serves the higher current demands of 36V and 48V ride-on scrubbers, sweepers, and large walk-behind units. If your machine uses a multi-battery pack and a higher-output charger, the SB175 is the industry standard.
- Amperage rating: 175A continuous
- Voltage class: 36V and 48V systems
- Common color: Gray (36V–48V standard)
- Wire gauge: 2 AWG or 4 AWG
- Available lengths: 24-inch, 36-inch, 48-inch, and longer runs
Connector Color Coding: Red, Gray, and Blue
Anderson-style battery connectors use color-coded housings as a physical keying system. A red connector mates only with another red connector, gray with gray, and so on. This is not cosmetic – it prevents dangerous cross-connections, such as plugging a 24V battery into a 48V charger.
- Red – 24V systems. The standard SB50 connector color on walk-behind scrubbers and compact equipment.
- Blue – Alternate 24V (and some 12V) configurations. If your machine shipped with a blue SB50 connector, your replacement must also be blue.
- Gray – 36V and 48V systems. The standard SB175 connector gray housing used on ride-on equipment and high-output chargers.
Always match the exact color of the connector already installed on your battery and charger. If both sides do not share the same color, they will not mate.
Cable Gauge and Length Selection
An undersized or overly long cable introduces resistance, generates heat, and reduces charging efficiency. Selecting the correct gauge and length protects your battery, charger, and equipment.
Wire Gauge
- 6 AWG – Standard for SB50 connectors and 24V applications up to 50A.
- 4 AWG – Mid-range option for SB175 connectors on 36V systems or moderate-draw 48V setups.
- 2 AWG – Heavy-duty choice for SB175 connectors on 48V systems with sustained high-current loads.
Cable Length
NexSys® Store stocks DC battery connector cables in the most common lengths, including the popular 72-inch SB50 cable and 24-inch SB175 cable. Measure the distance from your battery compartment to the charger’s output port before ordering. Allow a few inches of slack – but avoid excessive length, which adds unnecessary resistance.
How to Identify Your Connector Type
If you are unsure whether your machine uses an SB50 or SB175, use these three checks:
- Measure the housing. SB50 housings are approximately 1.5 inches wide. SB175 housings are approximately 2.75 inches wide.
- Check the system voltage. 24V systems almost always use SB50. 36V and 48V systems almost always use SB175.
- Match the charger output. If you are using an EnerSys NexSys® charger, the charger’s output connector determines which DC battery connector cable you need. Match the connector type, color, and gauge.
NexSys® Charger Connector Cross-Reference
Use the table below to identify the correct DC battery connector cable for your NexSys® charger or any compatible charger matched to a NexSys® TPPL battery system.
| System Voltage | Typical Charger Output | Connector Type | Common Color | Recommended Gauge |
| 24V | Up to 50A | SB50 | Red or Blue | 6 AWG |
| 36V | Up to 175A | SB175 | Gray | 4 AWG |
| 48V | Up to 175A | SB175 | Gray | 2 AWG |

Why Connector and Cable Quality Matters
Industrial batteries push serious current through every charge cycle. At 50–175 amps, substandard contact surfaces create arcing, heat buildup, and voltage drop. The consequences compound over time:
- Slower charge times and incomplete charge cycles
- Premature wear on battery terminals and charger ports
- Overheating, melted housings, or electrical faults
- Unplanned downtime from mid-shift connector failure
Every DC battery connector cable in the NexSys® Store is built with correctly rated wire, properly crimped terminals, and housings that meet Anderson Power Products specifications – delivering full current, secure connections, and components matched to your EnerSys battery system.
AC Power Cords and Additional Accessories
NexSys® Store also carries AC power cords for charger input connections, replacement cable assemblies, and related accessories. If your charger’s input cord is frayed or damaged, we stock the correct replacement – no special orders, no waiting.
